"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.

I don't really advertise the website, and I'm certainly not active within the community. I've found the community as a whole to be very sycophantic with most people being too afraid to offer a critique for fear of being ravaged with comments like "how dare you!" or "like you could do better!"
That sort of thing isn't really constructive for *art* community, so I tend to bow out. I mostly just keep this thing for a friend of mine so that she can keep up with my work. The fact that it's easy to upload images, has limited advertising, and has a good layout is all bonus.
I stopped being active too. There just wasn't much to make me go on. I only watch people I've spoken to, not really people I think are wonderful artists. So most of the people I watch are from NC, but it's been a few years since there was a get together.
I've used the site a lot to try and find good character art, but usually my tastes are just out of reach. It makes me wish I had any talent for drawing, or at least the money to commission the right thing for me.
